“Cybercrime is a type criminal activity in which a computer, computer network, messengers, browsers or websites are being used or attacked,” - this is how the head of the Cybercrime Prevention Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Orsha district executive committee, police lieutenant colonel Alexander Areshnikov began his informative and preventive conversation at a meeting with the staff members of “Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant” OJSC. He told about the decisive actions of Viber users, about how not to become a victim of scammers, about the rules of safe behavior on the Internet to protect against cybercrime and non-disclosure of confidential payment card information and SMS code to third parties for their own safety.

Police major Anna Galinskaya, the senior detective of the Cybercrime Prevention Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, spoke in more detail about the existing types and methods of cybercrime and how to protect yourself from them, using vivid and reliable examples from practical activities. Employees became aware about the “phishing campaign” with sending spam messages, which our citizens are often “fall for”, endangering personal safety, about the tricks that intruders are capable of using telephone communications.

Cybercrime is a global challenge that is steadily growing. And our task is to warn citizens about the danger that awaits active Internet users.

The police officers handed booklets and brochures with the rules for safe use of the Internet to the plant's staff as a souvenirs and for guidance in everyday life.
